A repeat of the County Cup Final sees Highley try to overturn that result against the current holders Sir John Bayley.
They have named their strongest line up as they aim to win this as they did in 2023 and 2019. Danny Statham got them off to a good start in the County Cup Final and is first four again but this time has Stuart Rutter. John Heath has been one of the form players for them lately but has Newport Open Champion Scott Harries first game. The person he beat in the final, Pete Grimston, will have his hands full against Dave East, who reached the final of the Staffordshire Merit this season. Reece Farr against Frank Leek promises to be a good clash, while Joe Dicken, winner of the Player of the Match award in the County Cup, takes on Jamie Taylor, hoping to add another player of the match award.
The Harris Shield on the other green sees holders Shifnal look to avoid an upset against Sir John Bayley B from Division Two. They have named their strongest line up, with Sonya Lucas, who won the Dixon & Driscoll on these greens with partner Pete Grimston, who plays in the other final, leading the line against Chris Riley. The Bayley do feature players who have experience of Division One like Del McKenzie and Pat Minton, who also reached the Harris Cup Final with the Bayley when their A team were in Division Two. Luke Morris and Phil Griffiths tasted success last Saturday in their Ashton Shield success, and play Dan Wilson and former Newport player Paul Reeves respectively. Paul Beer, winner of the Over 60s and Senior Merit, takes on Lillo Farruggio at number 7.
