Double Take!

Thankfully it is forecast to be cooling down from Heatwave II a bit after today so here’s goes with quick round-up from this week’s EGM & July Executive . . .

The EGM approved all the rule change proposals, the bulk of them to the League’s Management Rules in line with the BCGBA’s 5-year development strategy. They will be updated under Admin on this website soon – and marked appropriately at the top!

The officers have dealt with 3 separate Protests already this season, 1of which went to a disciplinary hearing – in front of a panel of 3 and new non-voting chair Sean Round – and also numerous safeguarding matters.

A new disciplinary procedure with a lead officer has been put in place temporarily, to go forward for approval at the 2027 AGM along with an updated Code of Conduct with potential punishments shown for offences.

Details of a new MSBL Champion of Champions on Saturday 3rd October were annouinced and Bowring were awarded their un-played Harris Cup tie versus Bylet (Premier), a proposal from Albrighton that was seconded by Edgmond being passed by delegates by 11 votes to 3.

Bowring will now host the Dave Ellis ladies versus gents match on Friday 25th September at the request of Broseley, who will stage it next year after closed season work on the club’s green.

Life Member nominations for 3 people were approved and the details of the Presentation Dinner on Saturday 21st November at The Shropshire (6pm) were confirmed.

Sadly, the County Matters included reference to bitter in-fighting and a potential vote of no confidence in the British Crown Green Bowling Association . . .

On a brighter note, the Fletcher Junior Doubles is at Trench tomorrow – Saturday 11th July – as part of the under-18s preparations to win a British junior county championship crown for the first time in 20 years – with  the home leg against Wales at the same venue on Sunday (2pm).

PICTURED are last year’s Junior Doubles finalists, with sponsor Margaret Fletcher, when the comp was played at the same venue! The results can be found on the MB results site
