2025 Dixon & Driscoll Doubles Report

Sonya Lucas & Pete Grimston won the 2025 Dixon & Driscoll Doubles after beating home players Phil Emery & Mark Selley in the final on Newport From 7 across they went 16-8 up as Sonya led well, as she had from the Quarter Finals, and then won 11. In the Semi Finals they didn’t give Simon Oldcorn & Pete Millington a chance as they went 9-0 and 15-4 ahead to win 8. Phil & Mark had a great game with Newport player Alan Davidson and former Newport player Steve Handley. They were 12-6 up but then 16-15 down, however went 19-16 up and won 17.

Well done to Sonya & Pete on their win.

A great total of 33 pairs entered today, which is the best entry for a long time, thank you to everyone who entered. Thank you to Newport for being great hosts once again today, and to those who measured and marked.

Quarter Finals:

Alan Davidson & Steve Handley were 6-0 down to Harry Church & John Potter but then 14-6 up. They went 20-9 ahead and won 15.

Mark Selley & Phil Emery were 6-3 down to Pete Farmer & Jordan Millman but then 13-6 up and won 10.

Sonya Lucas & Pete Grimston were only 5 across with Scott Harries & Rob Burroughs but went 12-5 up and from 16-12 ahead ran out.

Pete Millington & Simon Oldcorn from 5-3 up went 19-3 ahead and won 5.

2nd Round:

Harry Church & John Potter won 21-0 against Neil Smallman & Darren Jones in 10 ends.

Alan Davidson & Steve Handley were 11-3 up on Helen Clee & Martin Gaut and won 10.

Mark Selley & Phil Emery from 11-8 up on Ian & Kevin Edwards won 11.

Pete Farmer & Jordan Millman were only 10-8 ahead of Chelsea Gregory & Scott Moseley but run out.

Rob Burroughs & Scott Harries went 12-1 up on Nat Moseley & Sally King and then 20-8 ahead before winning 14.

Sonya Lucas & Pete Grimston were only 11-10 up on Aaron King & Phil Jones but only conceded two more.

Pete Millington & Simon Oldcorn were only 15-14 up on Shavourne Osbourne & Carleen Doody-Millington and won 14.

John Roberts & Simon Madeley were only 12-11 up on Steve Worthington & Rod Biddulph and won 11.

1st Round:

Neil Smallman & Darren Jones were 9-0 down to Luke Beckett and Gavin Bridge but from 17-11 down won 19.

Harry Church & John Potter were 9-3 up then 14-12 down to Dave Brown & Rich Simmonds but won 16.

Alan Davidson & Steve Handley were 11-8 down to Louise & Josh Cotton but went 17-11 up and won 15.

Helen Clee & Martin Gaut were 11-2 up on John & Rob Clarke and ran out from 14-9 up.

Kevin & Ian Edwards were 11-6 down to Emma Duncan & Nathan Lacey then went 17-11 up. Kevin & Ian went 20-12 ahead but Emma & Nathan got back to 20-19 down, however Kevin & Ian got the one he needed.

Phil Emery & Mark Selley only conceded three singles in beating Patrick Evans & Jeff Baddeley 7.

Pete Farmer & Jordan Millman were 12-4 and 17-7 up on Allan Gaut & Steve Faulkner and won 14.

Chelsea Gregory & Scott Moseley were 14-0 up on Sarah Glenholmes & Peter Leath and won 4.

Rob Burroughs & Scott Harries were 8-4 up on Pete Spragg & Simon Hall and only conceded three more.

Sally King & Nat Moseley were 19-8 up on Gareth Jones & Adam Roden and won 15.

Aaron King & Phil Jones went 14-3 up on Phil & Jamie King and won 12.

Sonya Lucas & Pete Grimston were only 10-9 up on Linda & Tim Lowe but ran out.

Shavourne Osbourne & Carleen Doody-Millington were 10-0 down to Beth & Steve Reeves but came back and won 20.

Simon Oldcorn & Pete Millington were 7-0 down to Nick Mullinder & Paul Bradburne but then 16-14 up. From 20-17 down they ran out.

John Roberts & Simon Madeley were 15-6 up on Rob Roden and Andy Morgan but they got back to 20-19, however John & Simon got the two he needed.

Steve Worthington & Rod Biddulph from 16 across against Denise Tonks & Dave Evans ran out.
