Madeley CC C are already through to the 1st round of the Ashton Shield after beating Newport E by 42 chalks. They won by 38 at home, best winner John Picken 3, and by 12 away, Ken Honnor best winner 11.

They will now play the winner of Donnington Wood C and Hadley tonight, with Hadley having a 28 shot lead. That’s the same lead St Georges C have over Sinclair C, who play next Wednesday 29th July, while the other tie tonight is Horsehay D taking on Trench C.
