Final:
Wrockwardine Wood C ended Newport Ds 3 year winning streak in the Ashton Cup with a comfortable victory tonight by 18.
They flew out the traps, Rowan Fuller starring at number one, going 9-3 and 13-8 up in front of vociferous support against Dave Oldcorn. But Dave did get back to 17-14 down but Rowan ran out. Steve Weston was 10-7 down to Chris Gill but went 17-10 up and won 15. Chris Jones from 12 across went 16-12 ahead and won 17 against Simon Trotman, and a clean sweep was complete when Sam Price held off a fightback by Jeff Badderley who from 16-3 down got back to 16 across, but Sam won 18.
After four Wrockwardine were 23 up.
This extended to 35 when Keith Millington, who was voted player of the match, went from 7-0 down to 17-7 up and won 9 against Gerald Atkin. Newport then did stage a fightback with the next three winners. Steve Anyon was 15-6 up on Liam Bremner and won 15, Patrick Evans was 11-4 down to Tony Farr but from 14-11 down ran out, and Glyn Lawrence from 12-7 ahead of Jack Morgan won 15.
This meant Wrockwardine were only 16 up now.
However Sean Keeshan from 5-4 down went 13-6 up on Neil Smallman and won 15 to get Wrockwardine over the line. This left Newport captain Mick Jones on with Timothy Trehearne, with Mick winning 17.
Overall Wrockwardine Wood C won by 18.

Two out of the top three in Division Four will be in the Ashton Cup Final as holders Newport D, current leaders, take on Wrockwardine Wood C, who are 3rd.
Newport D overcame Hadley USC C by 47, winning by 54 at home, Chris Gill best winner 7, and by 9 away, Glyn Lawrence best winner 8.
Wrockwardine Wood C defeated Much Wenlock B by 57, winning by 56 at home, Jack Morgan and Keith Millington best winners 6, and by 14 away, Chris Jones best winner 9.

They will now play Hadley USC C after they defeated St Georges C by 49, winning by 24 at home and 38 away. Much Wenlock B upset Allscott Heath A by beating them by 9, winning by 25 at home and losing by 26 away. They will play Wrockwardine Wood C in the Semis after they got past Trench C by 28. They won by 33 at home and 3 away.

Holders Newport D got through after beating Maddocks B by 40 after winning by 44 at home and 24 away. Last year’s runners up Allscott Heath C beat Edgmond B by 69, winning by 59 at home and 30 away. Their E team lost to Trench C by 26, losing by 28 away and 21 at home. Donnington Wood were on the wrong end of two very close games. Their C team lost to Much Wenlock B by 6, losing by 7 away and winning by 12 at home. Their D team lost to Shifnal C by 5, winning by 4 at home and losing by 25 away. St Georges C upset Charlton B by 28, winning by 24 at home and only losing by 10 away. Wrock Wood C beat Bowring C by 43 after winning by 44 at home and drawing away.

The closest game was between Allscott Heath C and Sir John Bayley C, with Allscott winning by 13. They won by 20 at home and lost by 5 away. Their E team also got through after defeating Bowring D by 51, winning by 12 at home and 29 away. Wrockwardine Wood C beat Horsehay C by 33 chalks, winning by 70 at home and losing by 19 away. Last year’s Ashton Shield runners up Much Wenlock will be in the main competition this year after getting past Bylet C by 55, winning by 31 at home and away. Donnington Wood C overcame Sinclair C by 46, winning by 37 at home and 19 away. Trench C won by 58 at home and 18 away to beat Edgmond C by 51. But Edgmond’s B side won by 15 against Horsehay B, winning by 11 at home and losing by 8 away.
