One of the best attended executive meetings in a long time ended with hearty rounds of applause for each of the League’s new Life Members for 2025.
Past County President and junior supremo Brenda Slingo, Trench nominee and past Mid Shropshire vice-chairman David Evans and one-club man Adrian Smith of Hadley USC fame were honoured in a special ceremony.
League President Mike Potter presented their awards after delegates, family members and friends heard statements recognising the trio’s supreme service to the sport.
The meeting itself saw Richard Simmond of Horsehay appointed to the vacant post of League vice-chairman under executive powers.
The prize money proposal from the chairman and treasurer was approved along with a new £200 a year honoraria for webmaster Rob Burroughs.
Rule change proposals already received from 3 clubs were outlined, plans for Sunday’s junior presentation at the Bayley Club were confirmed and the final figure of 151 accommodated by the new venue for the presentation dinner were reported.
