2025 ASHTON CUP & SHIELD FINALS

6.30pm Ashton Cup – Newport D v Wrockwardine Wood C
7pm Ashton Shield – Sinclair C v Sir John Bayley C
The cream has risen to top for this year’s finals night of the team knockouts for the League’s Monday division sides, with all 4 finalists currently playing in the top 4th division.
Reigning champions Newport are aiming for a famous fourth Ashton Cup triumph in a row against the club that used to dominate this knockout, Wrockwardine Wood.
Newport show 5 changes to the 10-a-side team that tasted Cup success last year while the Wrockites are led from the front by county junior Rowan Fuller, who is again enjoying a fine season.
Of the Shield finalists, Sir John Bayley have made little impact on the Ashton scene but Sinclair won it in 2016, although they are currently struggling to survive in the 4th division.
But they do boast the League’s double junior title winner Logan Church in their ranks in a blend of youth and experience.
Dress code rules apply tonight for what we hope will be 2 more cracking showdowns – hopefully after the worst of the forecast wet weather has passed!
