Ashton Shield Final Report

Sir John Bayley C won the Ashton Shield for the first time with a 43 shot victory over Sinclair C.

They were down after four games though. Will O’Hara managed to edge out Luke Morris 19 coming back from 15-11 down and Mick Kinsey from 13-1 up won 8 against Steven Edwards for Sinclair. But Charles Fletcher from 12-8 ahead of Jeanette Kinsey won 12, and Gary Franks from 7-3 and 12-10 down won 18 against Andrew Hardeman.

After four games off Sinclair led by 10.

But the Bayley dominated the middle four. Ben Delves went 7-0 ahead of Don Hood and extended this lead to win 11. Paul Lewis raced 9-0 ahead of Logan Church and won 16 after Logan fought back from 20-10 down. Steve Watkins was impressive in the corners and didn’t give Emma Millman much space as he won 0 and the player of the match award. Maurice Wakeley was the only winner for Sinclair, edging out Tim Childs 19 in a close game.

After eight the Bayley now led by 24.

Dave Dudley from 13-10 up on Ryan Oare won 11 and Phil Griffiths from 5-2 behind won 12 from 11 across to seal a comfortable looking victory for the Bayley by 43.
