Rules
The competition is open to all Monday Night teams in the Mid Shropshire League.
Each team shall play on the green they use in the league.
The entry fee is £10.
A closing date for entries will be set by the Competition Secretary at the March Executive Meeting.
The draw will take place within a week of the closing date. This will be drawn straight through.
Any teams withdrawing after the draw shall pay a fine of £20.
Clubs are handicapped according to their league position the previous season. The team who finish 1st in Division Four shall start off scratch, finish 2nd shall start on +1 and so forth.
Number of players shall be 10, to play 5 home and 5 away until the final.
Games shall be played on Wednesdays as set by the Competition Secretary at the March Executive Meeting. However games can be played at least a week before the date of the next round date if agreed by both clubs and the Competition Secretary is notified.
The two finals shall be played on a Saturday at a neutral two green venue. Dress code will apply.
Teams should be sent in order to the Competitions or General Secretary at least 48 hours prior to the final commencing.
Games to be decided on aggregate. In the event of a tie on aggregate, the match shall be decided firstly by the most number of wins per team, secondly by the best winner and thirdly by each team’s best win in descending order. If the game is still tied after this criteria, a replay will take place with the date set by the Management Committee, except the final, where one player from each team will play up to 11 with the winner of this game winning the match.
Players for each team must have played at least one Mid-Shropshire game for that club in that season before any Preliminary or 1st round games.
Players must then have played four Mid-Shropshire games before the Quarter Finals, six before the Semi Finals and eight before the Final for that club.
If a player plays for one team, they cannot play for another team in the competition.
Any player who is in a registered list cannot play for a team below the team that they are registered for.
Results should be entered in accordance with league rule 16 by the home team, excluding the final.
2nd Round
Holders Newport D got through after beating Maddocks B by 40 after winning by 44 at home and 24 away. Last year’s runners up Allscott Heath C beat Edgmond B by 69, winning by 59 at home and 30 away. Their E team lost to Trench C by 26, losing by 28 away and 21 at home. Donnington Wood were on the wrong end of two very close games. Their C team lost to Much Wenlock B by 6, losing by 7 away and winning by 12 at home. Their D team lost to Shifnal C by 5, winning by 4 at home and losing by 25 away. St Georges C upset Charlton B by 28, winning by 24 at home and only losing by 10 away. Wrock Wood C beat Bowring C by 43 after winning by 44 at home and drawing away.

1st Round:
Reigning holders Newport D safely moved into the 2nd Round with a 73 win over Madeley CC C, winning by 65 at home and 25 away. The closest game was between Allscott Heath C and Sir John Bayley C, with Allscott winning by 13. They won by 20 at home and lost by 5 away. Their E team also got through after defeating Bowring D by 51, winning by 12 at home and 29 away. Wrockwardine Wood C beat Horsehay C by 33 chalks, winning by 70 at home and losing by 19 away. Last year’s Ashton Shield runners up Much Wenlock will be in the main competition this year after getting past Bylet C by 55, winning by 31 at home and away. Donnington Wood C overcame Sinclair C by 46, winning by 37 at home and 19 away. Trench C won by 58 at home and 18 away to beat Edgmond C by 51. But Edgmond’s B side won by 15 against Horsehay B, winning by 11 at home and losing by 8 away.
