Final:
Wrockwardine Wood C won a thriller of an Ashton Cup final against Allscott Heath E by just 3 chalks. They managed to overcome a 70 handicap to retain the trophy with the last game on.
They started quickly, Rowan Fuller going 20-0 up and winning 6, while Owen Cherrington won 9 and Liam Bremner won 10 to close the gap to 29. Allscott though stemmed the tide in the middle four, having their only winner in Paul Tanner 17 to leave them 14 up off 8 games. Tim Trehearne led 15-6 and Sean Keeshan 10-4 as they looked to finish off but Emily Redden played some inspired bowls to get back to 15-13 down and Roger Chapman closed the gap to 15-10 and Allscott looked like they could hold on. But Tim played a great bowl to get in and ran out, earning him the Player of the Match award. This left Sean on the green and 17-11 up needing to win at least 15. Despite Roger getting a single he managed to hold on to win 12.
Well done to Wrockwardine Wood C on their success but also a big well done to Allscott Heath E for making it one of the best Ashton Cup Finals we’ve seen. Well done to Tim on winning the Player of the Match award.

Semi Finals:
Holders Wrockwardine Wood C will defend their title in the final as they beat Bowring D by 78 overall. They won by 63 at home, Liam Bremner the best of 5 winners there 21-2. At the Bowring they won by 31, Timothy Trehearne best winner 7. Allscott Heath E didn’t need their handicap as they beat Much Wenlock B by 86 overall. They won by 33 at home with Robert McGibbon best winner 7. They only lost by 5 away as Emily Redden was best winner 15.
Quarter Finals:
Wrockwardine Wood C ended Newport Ds run of four successive finals after beating them by 46 overall. They won by 31 at home, Jack Morgan best winner 9, and by 11 away, Rowan Fuller best winner 6. They will play Bowring D now, who got past by Horsehay C by 6 chalks. They won by 19 away, David Jones best winner 14, and lost by 21 at home, Keith Rowley their only winner there 16. Allscott Heath E won by the handicap of 28 against Charlton B. They won by 3 at home, Mel Maddox best winner 12, and lost by 3 away, Emma Hayward best winner 7. They will take on Much Wenlock B who had all 10 winners against Edgmond C to win by 79 overall. They won by 55 at home, Jeremy Good best winner 6, and by 64 away, Guy Mumford best winner 3.

Wrockwardine beat Donnington Wood D by 43, winning by 44 at home, Jack Morgan best winner 8, and by 19 away, Owen Cherrington best winner 11. Newport D defeated Sir John Bayley D by 32, winning by 40 at home, Patrick Evans best winner 6, and drew away, Simon Trotman and Mick Jones best winners 11. Bowring D won the Wellington derby by just 10. They won at home by 21, Carol Faulkner best winner 4, and by 5 away, Dave Rickus best winner 3. They will play Horsehay C now after they got past Bylet B by 50, winning by 58 at home, Chris Lay best winner 3, and by 40 away, Neil Banks best winner 3.
Allscott Heath E shocked Shifnal C after beating them by 34. They drew at home with Robert McGibbon best winner 6, and lost by 26 away, Peter Starling the winner there 18. They play Charlton B now who beat Horsehay D by 24, losing by 4 at home, Annette Lucas best winner 7, and winning by 22 away, Roger Cox best winner 5. Preliminary Round:
Holders Wrockwardine Wood C overcame Hadley easily to reach the 1st round of the Ashton Cup. They won by 66 at home, Sam Price best winner 3, and by 28 away, Chris Jones best winner 1. Runners up Newport D overcame a big handicap difference to beat Sinclair D by 23, but 21 of those came from a walkover at Newport. Mick Jones and Colin Stanley both added a 21-1 card home and away respectively. Bylet B upset Allscott Heath C by 16 after winning by 21 at home, Gene Kelly best winner 5, and losing by 59 away.
The closest game was between Bowring D and Madeley CC C with Bowring winning by 5. They won by 25 at home, Keith Rowley best winner 11, and by 4 away, Dave Rickus best winner 6. Sir John Bayley D defeated Sinclair C by 41, winning by 35 at home, Steve Watkins best winner 7, and by 20 away, Gary Franks best winner 6. Donnington Wood D got past St Georges C by 31. They only won by 8 at home, Dagan Jaggs and Stuart Beddoes best winners 14, and by 49 away with 5 winners led by David Dye 21-2. Horsehay C overcame Donnington Wood by 11, losing by 1 away, Kelsie Harris and Gregg Corbett best winners 13, and won by 6 at home, best winner Kevin Jones 15.
