Harry Church followed in his dad’s footsteps and won the 2025 Shropshire Verti-Drain & Turf Services Mid Shropshire Merit. He beat Kate Wainwright 8 in the final after going 13-3 up.
In the Semi Finals, Kate raced 12-1 up on Paul Beer, and never let Paul back in to win 13. Harry had a good 8-3 lead over Jordan Millman but Jordan came back to lead 10-8. Harry from 11 across went 15-11 up and won 16.
Well done to Harry for winning today.

Quarter Finals:
Kate Wainwright went 7-3 up on Pete Farmer and from 12-11 up extended his lead to win 15.
Paul Beer was 9-2 down to Pete Spragg but closed the gap to lead 17-16. He went 19-17 down but ran out with two 2s.
Harry Church was 11-7 down to Sonya Lucas but then went 14-11 up. It was 18 across but Harry ran out.
Jordan Millman was 11-7 down to James Blair and then 17-13 and 20-16 behind. However he ran out.
1st Round:
Pete Farmer was always ahead of Lee Parton but Lee did get it back to 14 across before Pete ran out.
Kate Wainwright from 4-0 down went 13-4 ahead of John Potter and despite John getting back to 19-14 down she won 14.
Paul Beer went 14-7 up on Paul Reeves and despite Paul closing the gap at 14-11 but Beer went on to win 13.
Pete Spragg got a walkover as Dan Williams was playing in another competition.
Harry Church raced 18-0 up on Darren Jones and won 5.
Sonya Lucas went 13-0 up on Yvonne Needham and won 6.
James Blair was 10-1 up on Nick Mullinder but Nick led him 15-13. James went 18-16 up but Nick went 19-18 up. However James ran out.
Jordan Millman went 14-3 up on Adrian Owens but Adrian did get back to 19-15 down but Jordan got the two he needed.

Favourite Pete Farmer qualified after beating Pauline Wilson 17 and Dave Kilford 7. His Sinclair team mate Pete Spragg got through after defeating Phil Craggs 11, while two women qualified in Yvonne Needham and Kate Wainwright. Yvonne got past John Clarke 17 and Angus Needham 3 and Kate beat Dave Hall 8 and Greg Needham 6.

Donnington Wood:
James Blair took 3 good scalps as he beat Helen Clee 14, Roy Bradbun 3 and Tony Garmson 12. Nick Mullinder got through after beating Sir John Bayley pair Steve Worthington 9 and Lisa Wilson 11. John Potter also got through by beating Dan Wilson 10 and Simon Hall 12, and Lee Parton defeated his team mate Alex Turnbull in the qualifier 13 after previously beat Paul Osbourne 10 to get through.

Former finalist Paul Reeves qualified after beating team mate Andy Morgan 20, Dave Brown 12 and Chris Lodge 16. Former Under 18 Merit winner Harry Church beat Chris Newbrook 4 and Phil Jones 9, with his Sinclair team mate Dan Williams qualifying as well by getting past Phil Venables 17 and Malcolm Tibbett 14. Darren Jones from Newport was the other qualifier after beating Mike Briscoe 18 and Nick Marshall 11.

Wrockwardine Wood:
Last year’s runner-up Paul Beer can still go one better and retain the title he won in 2008 after he qualified by beating Jamie Millman 6, his partner Ali Cotton 12 and Graham Turner 17. His team mate Sonya Lucas got through by beating Graham Bleakley 2 and Carleen Doody-Millington 16. Former Under 25 Merit winner Jordan Millman qualified by defeating Matt Pritchard 14 and Michael Cooper 6. Adrian Owens was the other player to get through, the Albrighton bowler beating Tim Childs 14 and Chris Gill 12.
