With today’s Beginners Competition attracting a fine 36 entries at Wrockwardine Wood (Saturday 26th September) there is very little time to reflet on Friday night’s 8th edition of the ladies versus gents match for the Dave Ellis Shield.
But I do just want to thank to all 50 bowlers who played in it on the older green Bowring – and the host club of course.
The men made the now usual fast start but then the ladies cut the gap to just 3 shots at one stage as the banter increased!
After just over 3 hours it finished 13-12 in wins to the men for a 14 chalk success – and gents joint captain Dan Wilson is PICTURED receiving the Shield from ladies skipper Marg Fletcher.
That makes it 5-3 to the men now with Broseley rostered for the 2027 version.
Remember, it takes special people to make special nights – and the League is proud to have so many of them.
And after what has not been the easiest of seasons for the officers, it’s nights like last night that make it so worthwhile to give you all a stage to perform on each year, from April through to October.
