This time it’s Newport that is the place to be on Saturday 5th September for followers of the League – with a double header of action to drool over.
It all starts with the 2026 League Handicap with competitions secretary Rob Burroughs reporting 24 entries early in the week. It’s enter on the day (£5) before the 10am start time, with a consolation KO and all prizes paid out in cash.
It is open to all who are registered in the League and the handicaps area available to see under the Individual Comps icon on this site.
And both Newport greens will also be in use later in the day for the Ashton team knockout finals for Monday division sides.
They begin with the Ashton Shield showdown on the No.2 between Shifnal C and Sinclair C at 6.30 with little to choose between the sides.
That’s followed at 7pm by the start of the Ashton Cup final with holders Wrockwardine Wood C having a 70 shot handicap to overcome against 7th division Allscott Heath E if they are to retain the trophy.
The League’s competition merry-go-round continued last weekend with the Junior & Adult Doubles at Sinclair with Jack Cooke – winner of the Junior Doubles with Ellis Griffiths – teaming up with Prince of Wales Hotel clubmate Lee Walmsley to take the main title.
They won the 7 end final against Louie Hill and Craig Baugh 6-3 after being 3-0 down – and are PICTURED with the trophy.
