Time to reflect, savour and bask in their successes already this season has been priceless for the League’s reigning champions Sinclair this week.
They duly completed their knockout double by winning the Shropshire Cup, having made history in May as the first non-Premier League side to have won its Mayhew Trophy.
Saturday’s final against first division rivals Newport at Meole Brace started badly but eventually turned into a procession as they ended up winning by 42 shots with 7 winners out of the 10 games.
The Fishes set off in determined fashion with Phil Emery winning 21-6 and Ian Edwards 21-12 in the first four as Alan Davidson and Allan Smith both established early leads.
Those advantages went to waste as opponents Ayden Smith (21-18) and John Roberts jr (21-15) both won for Sinclair, but Newport still led by 15 shots after four.
And when Martyn France flew out of the blocks at No.5 on his way to a 21-13 card the Fishes looked well set to repeat their 2021 Shropshire Cup triumph in the KO for non Premier bowlers.
It was young junior stars Jordan Millman (21-8) and Logan Church (21-11) who then turned the tide to level the aggregate scores, Jordon fresh from completing a title double at the Colwyn Festival in North Wales earlier in the week.
That left Sinclair’s last three of Dan Williams (21-6), Darren Fielding (21-9) and skipper Harry Church (21-6) to complete the come from behind win before County President Andy Jones is PICTURED presenting Harry with the trophy for the first time in Sinclair’s history.
