Not 1, not 2 but a terrific 3 Mid Shropshire clubs will now be running Junior Bowls Clubs throughout the school summer holidays.
Albrighton, Bridgnorth and Edgmond will each be offering 5 sessions with DBS checked & qualified coaches.
And County Development Oficer and coaching chief Pauline Wilson is delighted.
“So that means up to 60 children, almost all from non bowling families, will be introduced to bowls in the Mid Shropshire area this summer,” she said.
“It won’t end there as each of the 3 clubs has plans to run follow-up sessions in September.
“We often hear ‘there’s not enough juniors in the game’- but it (recruitment) can be done and these clubs have invested time, thought and energy into getting to those juniors.
“They have DBS checked and qualified coaches; have involved club members as helpers on and off the green; have advertised wider than the bowling community; and planned for the future with the in-house coaches up-skilling to Level 2 coach level.
“This bodes well for the future of juniors in Mid Shropshire and congratulations to the 3 clubs for not just bewailing the situation but getting out there and DOING something. Very Well Done!”
