FIXTURE SECRETARY JOHN PALMER’S REPORT TO THIS WEEK’S APRIL EXECUTIVE MEETING – please note registrations cut off date of THIS IS TOMORROW . . .

Good evening everybody.

Quite a lot has happened since the March meeting. Sadly, as I’m sure you’re all aware, Hadley United Services Club has folded losing us a team from division 1 but their division 5 team has been resurrected as Hadley Bowling Club, playing at Charlton.

This year’s fixtures have been tricky to produce and I must thank the following for their assistance:

  • Mike Beckett for coordinating the Friday fixtures with the Premier league. Unfortunately, two fixture clashes couldn’t be avoided – SJB A v Horsehay on 18th September and Wrockwardine Wood A v Newport A on 3rd July. The first of these was resolved thanks to Rob by reversing the Premier fixture. It wasn’t possible to do the same with Wrockwardine Wood but this should be resolved soon.
  • Martin Gaut and officials from the Shrewsbury Ladies League for reversing a couple of their fixtures in order to avoid clashes with Horsehay’s Thursday league side.
  • Graham Hughes for helping to sort out the Monday fixtures to avoid clashes with the Trench fixtures in the Wem league.

Usually, the results system is configured to lock player registration when the first result has been posted but as the Friday and Monday divisions don’t start until 13th April, I’ve decided to set the cut-off point as Sunday 12th April so you’ll have until then to manipulate your squads. Subsequently, you’ll have to contact me. This date will be the one associated with rule 21d.

I checked the system this morning for named 12’s, 6’s & 8’s and the following clubs are either not compliant or have more than needed:

  • Charlton only have 5 starred players for their A team, there should be 6.
  • SJB have 13 starred for the premier, should be 12.
  • Trench only have 4 starred for both their A & B sides, should be 6 for both.

Finally, there are a number of players who have been registered for some time but don’t have a BCGBA number:

  • Albrighton – Clive Postle
  • Broseley – Julian Chambers
  • Hadley – Lee Steadman
  • Shifnal – Melvyn Clarke
  • St Georges – Dave Gibbs

And Trench have recently added: Andrew Armstrong, Phil Fitzpatrick, Barry Morgan & Sharon Morgan.

If these are still valid can you please ensure that they have a BCGBA number, register it while you still can or send it to me and I’ll update their details?

That’s about it for now, good luck to everybody for the rest of the season!
