Not content with launching 5 new competitions this year, the League’s ‘man with the draw sheets’ has another one in the pipeline for next year.
A 2026 MSBL Champion of Champions is the latest brainchild of Rob Burroughs that he outlined and got approval for at the October Executive meeting.
“It would be a great way to get every club involved at the end of the season and celebrate them,” said comps chief Rob, who is PICTURED with the first ever MSBL Ladies Merit winner, Viv Cooper .
“The Mid Shropshire Champion of Champions would be held on the first Saturday in October and feature the following:
“28 players from each club, the Senior Merit Winner, Monday Merit Winner, Thursday Merit Winner, Ladies Merit Winner, Over 60s Merit Winner, Under 25 Merit Winner, Under 18 Merit Winner, Under 15 Merit Winner, Junior Handicap Winner, League Handicap Winner and the, Beginners Competition Winner.
“There would also be the winners of the Division One Averages, Division Two Averages, Division Three Averages, Division Four Averages, Division Five Averages, Division Six Averages, Saturday Division Singles Averages, Thursday Night Averages and Thursday Afternoon Averages.
“That would be 48 players on two greens – although you could have doubles qualifiers which might mean using the consolation winners in the Beginners and League/Junior Handicap competitions to make it a full 64.”
So now you know!
