A special pre-season meeting is being planned for March 2026 to address the behaviour issues which plagued League officers this year.

Captains of all teams will be urged to attend to receive advice on how to deal with any issues that may arise in matches next year.

But in terms of how the League will deal with potential problems, general secretary Malcolm Fletcher said: “The officers will be sticking with our current Code of Conduct & Protest rules and we will be ramming home our message at all meetings in the countdown to the next season.”

The news was relayed to club delegates at the November executive meeting when rule change proposals from 5 clubs – Hadley USC, Horsehay, Newport, Albrighton and Bowring – were dissected. All require a seconder at the December meeting to go forward to the 2026 AGM.

The proposals from the officers, including a bid to put Rule 21 Named Players into plain English, will be revealed at the December meeting.

The AGM is set for Tuesday 27th January at the Sir John Bayley Club (7.30pm start) when a new chairman will need electing as Sean Round confirmed he would be standing down after 14 years in post. All other officers are prepared to continue next year.

They will receive a 3.8% increase in honoraria after delegates agreed to use the September CPI figure for guidance as normal.

Clubs were urged to keep on top of safeguarding matters and stay up to date with a winter packed with development work lined up by county officer Pauline Wilson.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery were sent to Mr Worfield, club secretary Doug Russell, after his recent stroke.
