One weekend full of League winners done and dusted – and another to look forward to!
Newport will host the Harris Cup and Harris Shield finals on the evening of Saturday 6th September, when the weather is forecast to be much better than for last weekend’s Ashton team knockout finals!
But despite the heavy rain, there was a good turnout at Bowring to see Wrockwardine Wood end Newport’s three-year reign as Ashton Cup holders and Sir John Bayley enjoy their first taste of Ashton Shield success with victory over Sinclair.
PICTURED is Sean Keeshan of the Wrockites receiving the Ashton Cup from League President Mike Potter.
Earlier in the day, and just down the road at the Bayley Cub, an incredible 20 pairs had contested the first ever Junior & Adult Doubles.
Senior Merit winner Harry Church and his brother Logan, this season’s double junior champion, ended up as the historic first winners to add to their 2025 honours.
Looking ahead, Harris Cup holders Sir John Bayley will take on Premier rivals Highley on Saturday in a re-run of last month’s close County Cup final at Edgmond.
And the Harris Shield showdown sees last year’s inaugural winners and division 1 champions, Shifnal, face giantkillers Sir John Bayley B, who upset the club’s A team in the semi-finals.
See you there!
