What we have we hold was definitely the mantra for Sir John Bayley and Shifnal at finals night of the Harris Cup and Harris Shield at Newport on Saturday 6th September.
Cup holders Sir John Bayley beat Premier rivals Highley by 18 shots in a re-run of their County Cup final at nearby Edgmond, Scott Harries named player of match for his 21-7 card at No. 1 before Highley cut the gap to just 6 after the middle 4.
And last year’s inaugural Shield winners Shifnal A were 50 chalks to good for second division Sir John Bayley B with 8 winners out of the 10 games, although Del McKenzie took the match award for his 21-17 first four win that prevented an early clean sweep.

And as the dust settled on two busy weekends, the League has paid tribute to the clubs that hosted the Harris and Ashton team knockout finals nights
General secretary Malcolm Fletcher told Newport and Bowring: “The officers recognise the hard work that goes in to putting such events on, especially the food side of the equation.
“I just hope your clubs had a good night in terms of bar takings to make it all worthwhile – rest assured we try not to take our clubs for granted.”
