Tributes were paid to 2 loyal servants of the sport at the start of the League’s December meeting.
Sir John Bayley stalwart Norman Harvey and loyal Bylet member Fiona Hammond were honoured in the usual way with a minute’s silence.
MEETING ROUND-UP
All 3 sets of rule change proposals – from 3 clubs, the officers and competition secretary Rob Burroughs – were all seconded and will so go forward to the 2025 AGM back at the Bayley Club on Tuesday 28th January at the new start time of 7.30pm.
Fixture secretary John Palmer told delegates he had opened the results system for clubs to update their bowler lists for 2025.
General secretary Malcolm Fletcher reported: “We have managed to get Chelmarsh and the League’s clubs guidance on the use of yellow jacks for visually impaired bowlers.
“I have also contacted Pauline Wilson and Brenda Slingo about John Lumsden’s idea at the last meeting concerning the League having a more formal and funded approach to Youth Development.
“There was another boost today with Donnington Wood asking to field another team in division 3 next year.
“But the bad news is that Wem USC have decided to delay applying to join the Denis Lewis Thursday Division for at least a year.”
The future of the annual presentation dinner was discussed at length but January’s function will go ahead with an encouraging figure of 145 having booked a place on Saturday 25th January at the West Stand @ TUFC in Wellington.
