With temperatures not forecast to fall much below 30c early tonight, the League is urging its clubs and bowlers to take precautions and good care ahead of the Friday 11th July fixtures in divisions 1-2-3.
This is already the third heatwave of the year we are experiencing and, thanks to Albrighton secretary Steve Wall, an official source of guidance has been found.
It’s on the Bowls England website (the link is https://www.bowlsengland.com/inclement-weather-guidance-for-bowls-england/)
But here are the key pointers:
Hydration is Key: Ensure you stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Avoid dehydrating beverages such as alcohol and caffeinated drinks.
Seek Shade and Protect Yourself: Whenever possible, remain in the shade.
Always remember to wear a hat and apply sun cream.
Try to avoid strenuous physical exertion during the hottest parts of the day.
