There are 13 teams entering, the most in a long long time, so thank you for you all taking the effort to do so and hopefully it should be a great day of bowling.
As I only thought we would get about 8 entries, like recent years, the Premier League have had to improvise with green selection. As a result, the groups will be staged on the two greens at Meole Brace and at Castlefields. The teams top of those 4 groups will play at Sir John Bayley bottom green in the Semi Finals and Final, all are within 15-20 minutes of each other.
The draw is as follows.
Castlefields No.1 Green – (SY1 2JX)
Tanners Ladies
Mid Shropshire B
NSCGBA C
11am start. Tanners Ladies and Mid Shropshire A to be there for 10.45.
Castlefields No.2 Far Green – (SY1 2JX)
Tanners B
Mid Shropshire A
Ludlow B
11am start. Tanners B and Mid Shropshire A to be there for 10.45.
Meole Brace No.1 Green by Road (SY3 9JF)
Ludlow A
NSCGBA B
Oswestry
Premier League Blue
Meole Brace No.2 Green by Car Park (SY3 9JF) –
Tanners A
Premier League Yellow
NSCGBA A
I will be running the two greens at Castlefields, as well as the Semi Finals and Final at Sir John Bayley.
Two points for a win, one for a draw. If there is a tie on points, then it goes on aggregate.
The four group winners are to travel straight to Sir John Bayley (TF1 1QX) to play in the Semi Finals. The two group winners at Meole Brace will play each other, and the two at Castlefields will play each other. There will be 5 games on the green at one time, the two group winners at Meole Brace will have the 3 games on first. The two winners will play each other in the final, with 3 blocks on. Semis and Final are decided on aggregate, then game wins, best winner etc.
Please see below the eligibility rules. Please could you send me your squads by end of Thursday. This will make it much easier on the day to enter the results online and also allows me to double check eligibility rules.
- Teams consist of 6 players from a squad of up to 10. These players must have played at least 2 games in that league at the time of the competition to be eligible.
- Veterans – to be eligible to play you must have reached 60 on the 1st January this year.
- Teams must be submitted to the host officer at least two days ahead of the competition.
Also, all leagues are expected to donate a raffle prize of £10 or be invoiced £10 for the entry fee.
I wish you all the best of luck, and I’m hoping the day will run smoothly despite the high number of teams and venues. It is great to see so many teams entering, and I hope a good day is had by all and that you want to do it all again next year.
