Shropshire Verti-Drain & Turf Services Mid Shropshire Merit Player Profiles 1-8

Please find player profiles below of our players from 1-8.

  1. Pete Farmer (Sinclair) – Pete hasn’t won this since 1990, but mainly because he hasn’t been playing in the league. The former multiple Shropshire Merit Champion has decided to play on a Friday in our league for Sinclair this season, and will start as favourite having won competitions on here before.
  2. Lee Parton (Bowring) – Lee reached the last 16 of this back in 2023, having progressed through the teams at the Bowring until reaching Division One in 2017, where he has been a regular ever since.
  3. John Potter (Sinclair) – John is a former Junior Doubles winner, as well as a multiple Whitchurch Under 25 Merit winner. He has played at Edgmond before, and has won the Dixon & Driscoll Doubles here too, as well as Donnington Wood, Bowring, Hadley USC, Wrockwardine Wood and now at Sinclair.
  4. Kate Wainwright (Bowring) – Kate is a former finalist, losing our to her dad Rich in 2014 on Hadley USC. She reached the last 16 last season as well, and has become a very important player at the Bowring in their Division One team.
  5. Paul Beer (Shifnal) – Paul won this back in 2008, and was finalist last season. He won the Over 60s last season too, and has now settled at Shifnal after multiple years at St Georges once the Dun Cow sadly shut down.
  6. Paul Reeves (Shifnal) – Paul is another former finalist in the field, having lost out to Jamie King 15 in the 2007 final. Paul reached the Dennis Lewis Open Semi Finals last year, and is now playing his bowls at Shifnal after spells at Sir John Bayley, St Georges and Newport once leaving Dun Cow.
  7. Pete Spragg (Sinclair) – Pete is a Sinclair stalwart, having played there for a number of years. He did reach this final back in 1998, losing 18 to Alan Davidson, and won the Over 60s Merit in 2017.
  8. Dan Williams (Sinclair) – Dan joined Sinclair last season, after playing in the Premier League at Hanwood for a number of seasons. He is one of the most experienced competition players out there, travelling with Callum Wraight all round the country.
