Two last minute withdrawals but, thankfully, one new addition accepted was the mixed bag of news from the League’s April management meeting.
Hadley USC pulled out of division 3 on Friday nights with their club secretary reporting they had lost 7 first team players since the March meeting.
Allscott Heath also withdrew their B side from the Dennis Lewis Thursday Division – but it remains with 13 teams thanks to a B team from Sir John Bayley being voted in.
However, the fixtures had to be re-jigged and, after burning the midnight oil, John Palmer delivered a new schedule by this morning.
Member clubs without a qualified coach – 20 out of 28 – were again encouraged to try and find someone willing to take the Coach Bowls course and to then be able spearhead their recruitment drives. This is the key part of the League’s new Development Policy – and 2 people are already signed up to take a course being organised in Telford in August by Pauline Wilson. The deadline to sing up to the course is 31st May
The 2025 annual presentation dinner will be at The Shropshire in Muxton on Friday 14th November with details of the start time, number of courses and costs per head – with juniors at a discounted price – will be determined at the July exec meeting
And finally, member clubs are to be contacted and asked for the names and mobile numbers of 2 members who would be willing to join a WhatsApp group set up by Rob Burroughs to help spread up to date League info.
