It’s not just spring and the abundant daffodils that have returned to Mid Shropshire land – competitive crown bowls is back too!
A whole plethora of open competitions locally mean there are loads of opportunities for bowlers to get in some practice ahead of the start of the 2025 League season next month.
Today (Saturday 22nd March) and tomorrow there are qualifiers in the Edgmond Open in the morning and the Shifnal Spring Open in the evening, while today Sinclair were hosting the last of the Bandit Bowls winter one-day comps.
And, starting on Monday, there is the new four-a-side team KO at Newport with promoter Rob Burroughs, the League’s competition secretary, reporting there are vacancies to be had in four qualifying evenings leading to a finals night on Friday.
If that wasn’t enough, on the British stage, Wrockwardine Wood were today playing in the ladies club championship on the Fylde coast while County Cup winners Sir John Bayley head to Colne next Sunday to compete in the regional qualifying rounds of the men’s equivalent.
