One of the latest updates on this website – besides this post! – is that all the Rules for 2025 season have now been uploaded under Admin by new webmaster Rob Burroughs.
Soon to follow are a number of Harris Cup winners between the years 1950 and 1994 that were missing from the handbook (last printed in 2018) and the website. That’s thanks to brilliant research work by Phil Owen, to whom the League offers its sincere thanks.
Phil, the Sir John Bayley stalwart, has also offered to assist the general secretary in his goal of getting most of the League’s 93 year history archived – a project that will hopefully begin soon after the March executive meeting on Tuesday the 4th.
Preparations for that meeting started with an officers gathering this week when items discussed in depth were match fees and prize money for this year; plans for big changes to the annual presentation (with the goal of holding it in mid November); recruiting a vice-chairman prepared to step up to chairman next year; potential new Life Members; and plans for a Sub Group meeting to wrestle with Rule 21 among other things, possibly in June.
STOP PRESS – There is still time to book a place at the Greenkeepers’ Community event on Thursday 27th February at Edgmond, starting at 7.30pm.
Sponsored by Dennis-Sisis and organised by the county association, the guest speaker will be Matt Gresty, who has more than 30 years of experience with greens. Contact county chairman Phil Scott on 07946-478299 to book.
