Please find below some of the dates for our Individual Competitions. The dates for the Senior, Monday and Thursdays Merits will be decided once the structure of the leagues are decided at the March Meeting. Ashton & Harris Cup & Shield Dates
Please see below the dates for the Harris Cup, the new Harris Shield Competition and the Ashton Cup and Shield. Teams can enter on their club page again for any club in the Mid Shropshire Leagues. A report of the 2023 Competitions is below: The Friday Night Merit saw 76 entries which meant we went to a 16 finals day at the Bylet. Thank you to everyone who entered. Highley win Harris Cup!
Highley won a great final tonight as they beat Bylet by 9 chalks at Sinclair. They had to come back from being 8 behind after four games, and then 1 behind after eight games, to win the trophy for the first time. Harris Cup Final Preview
The 2023 Harris Cup Final features two teams from the South of Shropshire for the first time. Highley won this trophy back in 2019, whilst Bylet have featured in the final before in 2018 against Bowring and in 2006 or 2007 against St Georges. Luke Morris and Dan Corbett edged out Jordan Millman and Logan Church in a thrilling Fletcher Junior Doubles Final. They had to come back from 15-11 and 18-15 down to win in a high quality affair. The 2023 Ashton Cup & Shield Finals on Saturday 2nd September will be hosted at Wrockwardine Wood Bowling Club. Dixon & Driscoll Doubles Review
Harry Church and John Potter won the 2023 Dixon & Driscoll Doubles after beating Jamie & Phil King 12 in the final. They trailed 5-2 early on before then going 8-5 up. As the rain started falling they played a mark over the crown to go 15-9 up from 9 across, and further extended this to 19-10, and were able to finish it off after John struck Jamie's counting bowl out at 20-12 up. The Fletcher Junior Doubles will take place on Saturday 2nd September at 10 a.m. at Sir John Bayley. Any under 18 registered with a Mid Shropshire club can take part, even if they don't have a partner as they can matched up with another junior there. You can enter on the day or with Rob Burroughs or Brenda Slingo before the day.
Dixon & Driscoll Doubles Preview
The 2023 Dixon & Driscoll Doubles take place at Edgmond tomorrow from 10 a.m. with 18 pairs looking to get their hands on the trophy. Last year's winner Nick Mullinder takes part, this time though with a different partner, Kris Lewis. It will be a South Shropshire derby in the final of the Harris Cup as Bylet and Highley came through against Division One opposition.
